Hilton Phoenix Chandler: Simple and Direct Hotel Signage

The mission of Hilton Hotels is “to be the most hospitable company in the world”, emphasizing integrity, leadership and teamwork as key values. Hilton Phoenix Chandler, in a prominent high-tech suburb of Arizona’s capital city, exemplifies that focus – consistently getting high ratings on websites like Trip Advisor, Booking.com and Yelp, and honored with customer excellence awards such as Hilton Worldwide’s own Blue Energy Award (for accomplishments in community relations) and Connie Award (the company’s highest accolade – for guest satisfaction, and the cleanliness and overall condition of the hotel).

In addition to personally greeting each and every guest who stays in the hotel, Hilton Phoenix Chandler expends a lot of effort to ensure that people attending events and meetings in their 17,000 sq. ft. meeting space area are well looked after. With nine meeting rooms, and both private indoor and outdoor spaces, they host numerous events each month. Yet there is no confusion for visitors, thanks to a simple but effective deployment of digital hotel signage using AxisTV from Visix.

“We have two displays in the lobby,” says Bill Taylor, General Manager of Hilton Phoenix Chandler, “and that’s enough for all the events that come through here.” Hilton headquarters has supplied them with a standardized PowerPoint template, with brand colors and logo, “so it’s consistent with all the Hilton collateral, right down to the same blue color for room keycards,” he explains.

His team simply inputs the information of which events are occurring in which meeting rooms into the template, and schedules that to a playlist, which then pushes the information out to the lobby signs. No tickers or other attractors are needed. “These people already know why they’re here – all they need to know is where to go,” Taylor says.

They also have digital room signs from Visix outside of their meeting rooms, which help visitors find exactly which room their meeting is in. As events finish, that information drops off the screen, and the next scheduled event goes up.

No matter which room is needed, from the 150 sq. ft. Pima Room that hold 6-10 people to the 3780 sq. ft. Ballroom, which can comfortably accommodate up to 350, no one gets lost thanks to the directness and simplicity of their digital signage deployment.

AxisTV can be a powerful and flexible tool for any hospitality environment, with many options and add-ons. But as Hilton Phoenix Chandler shows, sometimes less can be more.
