Important! Update Information for all AxisTV Clients
Microsoft is ending support for Basic Authentication for Exchange Web Services (EWS) starting October 13, 2020, so AxisTV v.9.9.2 has been enhanced to support Office 365 Modern Authentication in both the Exchange Adapter and the Interactive Service for room sign booking.
Adobe announced in July 2017 that it no longer plans to support Flash Player after December 31, 2020, so support for Flash Player has been removed from all applications in AxisTV v.9.9.2. This means that Flash itself, along with all technologies using the application, will experience:
- No bugs being fixed
- No updates for operating systems and browsers
- No new security patches
- No more support
- No new features or capabilities
What does this mean for AxisTV Signage Suite clients?
Nothing. Because we’ve been aware of these EOL plans, we’ve engineered AxisTV Signage Suite with no dependence on Flash, and version.1.35 has already addressed Microsoft authentication. You won’t experience any disruption in security or playback.
What does this mean for AxisTV 9 (or older) clients?
Clients using Flash for animated weather modules, date and time modules, and any imported content will see black squares on the screen where those Flash elements used to play. This may not happen immediately, but it is absolutely going to happen at some point.
What can I do to prevent playback and security issues?
Switch to Signage Suite! AxisTV Signage Suite surpasses AxisTV 9 in all aspects of design, management and playback. We’re giving away a great package to our clients with a current Software Support and Maintenance Subscription who commit to switch. It includes free licenses, implementation, training and signage kits, as well as deep hardware discounts and cloud hosting packages.
If you don’t have a support subscription, we’ll work with you to put together the best package for your timeline and budget. To make things really easy, you can run AxisTV 9 and AxisTV Signage Suite concurrently while we’re making the switch to ensure no interruption in service.
What does this mean for custom interactive projects using Flash?
Your interactive Flash project will either develop technical issues or stop working altogether at some point. However, our creative team can convert your project to HTML5 to ensure it continues to work properly. If you’re not sure if your project uses Flash, contact our client support team.
Don’t wait until your project no longer works!
It’s important to get started now so there’s no interruption in user experience. We’ll help you every step of the way to make the transition as fast and easy as possible. Contact your regional sales manager to discuss how to get started.
