Visix is a privately held software development firm based in Technology Park/Norcross, outside Atlanta, Georgia, with field sales offices in Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, San Francisco and Denver. The company was founded in 1980 as Tech Electronics, Inc. (TEi) to provide hardware solutions for audiovisual integrators in unique environments.
In 2000, we began the transition to digital signage software development. AxisTV, our first messaging application, has evolved in its efficiency, security and functionality over the years to serve as the cornerstone for our growing line of visual communications products. To emphasize the shift in focus, the company’s name was changed to Visix in November 2006.
Visix has become a software solutions company with an emphasis on digital signage for professional clients in a variety of organizations including corporate, higher education, medical facilities and worship spaces. The company has now deployed more than 1500 visual communications systems on three continents, and over 700 higher education campuses use Visix digital signage software.
- Management Team
Edward D. Matthews III
Ed has nearly 50 years of experience in the professional audiovisual industry. He began his career as a Service Manager for the Ampex Video Company, a major manufacturer of video products for the Broadcast Television Industry. In 1969, he joined the Calhoun Company, which later became Technical Industries, Inc. MCSi acquired Technical Industries in 1999, and Ed transitioned to the role of President, MCSi Southeast Region. In 2004, Ed returned to Atlanta to run Tech Electronics, Inc., which changed its name to Visix, Inc. in November of 2006. During Ed’s distinguished career, he has been involved with Technical Industries’ design and installation of the International Broadcast Center (IBC) for the 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as the IBC and all 19 venues for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. With MCSi, Ed played an integral part in the design and installation of the IBC, Olympic Stadium and Superdome venue control rooms for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, as well as the Japan Olympic Consortium for the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ed is an active member of ICIA, ITVA, SMPTE and PMI. He received an associate degree in Electronics and attended Southern Technical Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sean guides the company’s progress on a daily basis through management and oversight. He has guided Visix through a comprehensive corporate reorganization and expansion, including a name change, establishing field offices, outsourcing non-essential activities, introducing new award-winning products and services, growing revenues by more than 350% and quadrupling the number of employees to provide better products and services. Sean has over 20 years of experience in the visual communications industry. He started as an Account Executive with Technical Industries, Inc. before moving to Tech Electronics, Inc. as Executive Vice President. Here, Sean displaced a negative equity position with not only positive equity, but reduced its debt by 70%, outsourced its manufacturing processes, increased revenues by 50% and introduced two new product lines. He then returned to Technical Industries just prior to its acquisition by MCSi. After the merger, he served as both Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for MCSi before moving to the position of President, Western Region. Sean received his undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston, and his graduate studies were at Georgia State University. He served in the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve between 1985 and 1992, and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. Sean also served with the United States Treasury Department as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms from 1991 to 1993.
Chief Financial Officer
Christy provides analysis of all financial aspects of the company, participates in key management decisions, and formulates a variety of company policy. She is responsible for development and management of internal company systems, including administrative, accounting and human resource policies and procedures. In just a few years, Christy has managed to substantially reduce the company’s debt, renegotiate banking relationships and terms, reduce DSO, and improve cash flows through managed equity. Prior to working for Visix, Christy held key management and finance positions with an established supplier of audiovisual equipment and a rapidly-growing construction firm. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Florida State University.
Chief Sales Officer
Trey is responsible for company sales globally, and manages the Visix sales team and reseller partner relationships. He substantially contributes to Visix marketing, product management and planning through industry and technology research, as well as customer feedback. Trey has been with the company since 1994, when he joined Tech Electronics, Inc. as Marketing Manager. He moved into sales after 14 months and was Western U.S. Sales Manager for three years, and Director of Sales and Marketing for seven years. He was promoted to Chief Sales Officer in March 2012 after holding the position of Vice President, Sales since December 2005. Trey grew up in North Georgia and has a degree in Economics from Emory University.
Chief Operating Officer
Tony oversees all technical operations for Visix including implementation, support, development, quality assurance, production, technical documentation, support escalations and internal infrastructure. Tony joined Visix in 2012 with over 10 years of business management experience in both the public and private sectors with a deep knowledge of LEAN tools, project and personnel management, and process controls. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Carolina and a Masters in Business Administration from Augusta State University.
Creative Services Manager
Jill oversees all creative services projects for Visix including quoting, client consultation, design planning and overall project management. She works with a team of designers and contractors to develop and expand our creative product offering through new products and services, and also spearheads Visix’s social media efforts. Jill has over 10 years of experience in marketing. She began her professional career as a Marketing Manager for MCSi. Prior to joining Visix, she spent seven years in marketing and support in the financial services industry. She graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
Marketing Communications Manager
Debbie designs and executes all marketing and communications campaigns at Visix, including corporate and product branding, promotions and advertising, newsletters, web, sales tools, and event planning. Debbie has over 15 years of marketing and events planning experience. Prior to joining Visix in 2004, she spent three years as a Marketing Manager for MCSi, and four years as Marketing Coordinator and Event Production Manager for an audiovisual company. She previously spent nine years in the concert audio and lighting industry. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and Accounting from Wright State University.
Public Relations Specialist
Ellyce works as a Visix Communications Consultant and is our liaison to local, industry and national media. She pursues joint public relations initiatives with partners, resellers and clients. Ellyce has over 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, and public relations. She began her professional career as a sales associate with The Florida Marlins (MLB). In 1998, she joined Mitsubishi’s Diamond Vision Group as a marketing associate and later served as Public Relations Manager for Barco, Inc. Ellyce launched her own PR firm, Kudzu Publicity, LLC in 2004. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Media Communications from Kennesaw State University.
