At Visix, we believe that the same ethics and principles that guide our daily business decisions should be applied to our communities and the environment. By embracing our responsibility to people and the planet, our actions strive to shape a shared, sustainable value for our employees, our customers, and our society.
Running our company with a “green” conscience is good for the environment and good for our business. We're working to conserve energy and reduce waste, and are exploring how we can contribute to sustainable energy development.
As a software developer, we’re aware that the manufacture and disposal of PCs adversely impacts the world we live in. Visix has entered a partnership with Carbonfund.org to offset some of our organization's carbon footprint. For each PC shipped, Visix donates $5 to renewable energy and reforestation projects. Carbonfund.org makes it easy and affordable for any individual, business or organization to eliminate their climate impact and hasten the transformation to a clean energy future. Carbonfund.org achieves its goals through:
Environmental efforts have to start at the ground level. We’ve instituted a recycling program at our Norcross headquarters to recycle paper, plastic and aluminum, and we encourage the same policies in our employees’ home offices. We encourage electronic file transfer over printing in every practical instance, and when we have to print catalogs, brochures and stationery, we choose recycled paper.
Every year, Visix contributes to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. The Toys for Tots Program plays an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable natural resources - our children; unites all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and contributes to better communities in the future. The success of this program relies on volunteer support and community involvement, and we encourage others to get involved.
How can we make a difference? That’s the question that our Social Action Committee asks every month when volunteers get together to discuss potential projects. They coordinate specific efforts that help build stronger communities, minimize our environmental footprint, and create a terrific workplace. Rather than an end-goal, this is a continuous effort to improve working conditions and increase community involvement by Visix employees.
