Converts from Existing Syndicated News Service Provider
November 23, 2006
ATLANTA, GA — Visix, Inc. announced that the company is
migrating to a new syndicated news provider. The move to United Press
International (UPI) will take effect on December 1, 2006.
"The change comes in response to
client complaints regarding the quality of the syndicated news from
our previous provider," stated Sean M. Matthews, President, Visix.
"UPI delivers concise, well written stories using human editors.
The length of each story is effectively constrained to the SMS
standard of 160 characters or less, which is important to our new
MessageBlox™ initiative."
Visix has licensed
the UPI NewsTrack service.
This service provides up-to-date information for readers who are
looking for news relevant to their content needs in a short, concise
format of 150 to 200 words. NewsTrack stories are tailored to meet
the needs of Web sites that need frequently changing news items,
publications looking for short stories, and broadcasters in need of
current news. Headlines can be extracted from each story as a
hypertext link.
UPI NewsTrack follows and
updates the day’s top stories on a variety of topics including:
-
Top News
– Major national and international news events
-
Science
– Science and technology with an emphasis on health
-
Business
– Business stories highlighting major companies, business
decisions and worldwide economics
-
Entertainment
– Television, movies, music, celebrities and the entertainment
industry
-
Sports
– Game highlights, scores and major news in sports
-
Quirks in the News
– Funny, light items
and odd happenings from around the world and special columns
including the daily almanac and horoscopes
UPI NewsTrack Headlines
The
product consists of single sentences of less than 160 characters
that are extracted from the stories of UPI’s NewsTrack, covering the
same range of topics. The sentences contain sufficient story
information to stand alone. UPI NewsTrack Headlines are designed to
meet the needs of digital display companies and television networks
that have an interest in news crawls, technology providers looking
for headlines for kiosks and touch screens, as well as wireless
companies that need content for PDAs, SMS, MMS, pagers and cellular
devices.
Delivery
Content is delivered via
Web services.
AxisTV
v.6.2 or greater is required to support the UPI service. If you are
