Visix Releases AxisTV Version 6.6

ATLANTA, GA —
Visix,
Inc. announced the official release of AxisTV v.6.6. The upgrade is
available for immediate download from the company’s Web site, free of
charge, to all
Software Maintenance and Support Agreement (SMA) clients. New
AxisTV orders received after June 1, 2007 will ship with v.6.6 loaded on
integrated Content Servers and Channel Players.
Version
6.6 includes two new client-requested features and support tools
designed to improve the user experience. New optional features include
support for media streaming and video overlay with onboard tuner
support. The media streaming support option enables users to schedule a
live or pre-recorded media stream to be displayed in a Channel Player
content block. This feature provides clients the ability to display
endless sources of captivating video content, ranging from internal
communications and event information to breaking news, weather and
sports.
The
release also supports a new video overlay card featuring integrated
tuner capabilities. The inclusion of the option is designed to
significantly enhance the user experience by integrating tuner control
in a browser and provide a simple and cost-effective video source
solution by eliminating the need for additional hardware like an
external tuner.

features were developed to address two critical needs specifically
requested by Visix clients. In previous AxisTV releases, video content
had to be created or encoded and saved in a flat file media format like
Flash®, .mpg or .avi. Next, the file had to be uploaded and scheduled
to play. With support for live or archived streaming media and the
addition of the onboard tuner, users can point to a specific URL or tune
to a television channel and deliver rich media content as the events
unfold,” says Trey Hicks, Vice President, Sales.
